It was a beautiful day. Sun shining, like it was the middle of summer, birds chirping, quiet as ever. I could just sit outside and read all day long, like I usually did on nice days like this. But today was different from all those days. I was sitting in my room, drawing, when my best friend and roommate, Yujin, ran inside and almost ran right over me.

“Come on!” she yelled, as she grabbed my arm and started to pull me out the door. I never questioned what she was up to, but this seemed awfully strange of her.

“What? Why? What’s going on?” I asked her while we were running down the hallway.

“You’re getting adopted!” Wait a second... What? I was getting adopted? But... Who would want a girl like me as their daughter? There were much prettier girls in this building. But no, I was being picked, over thousands of millions of girls. What an honour... -__-

When we finally arrived at the front end of the building, where anyone who was adopted would leave, I saw a young couple. They looked like they were in their mid-twenties. I certainly wouldn’t mind living with them... The lady looked nice and loving, so did the man, but he looked like he had a snitch of....what could I say...evil..? But I wouldn’t care, I had a family. I would finally have a family.

I really didn’t want to leave Yujin. We’ve been best friends for as long as I can remember. I desperately wanted to take her with me. But I couldn’t... She sobbed as I hugged her goodbye. I wanted to cry too, but since I was older - just by a few months - I wanted to set a good example for her.

Hugging

“Don’t cry… You’ll make your beautiful eyes puffy and swollen. You don’t want that do you?” I stroke her hair as I hugged her. She giggled and was only crying softly by now. “I guess.. *sniffle*...not...” she said, the sadness still in her voice.

“I promise you we’ll see each other again, someday! Even if I have to go all the way across the world, I’ll find you and we’ll be together again,” I smiled as I looked into her dark green orbs. She nodded and hugged me one last time.

“Goodbye Chae-unnie*~” Yujin gave me her brightest smile and did a little wave, even though I was right in front of her. “Goodbye my Yujinnie~” I returned the smile she gave me and started to back away, waving. That was the last time I ever saw Yujin, my bestest friend ever, in my life.
